INSTALLATION STEPS

While each home is different, the process of installation is very reasonably straightforward.

Once all consents have been granted, the grand majority of installations will be completed by the third visit to your home. You will require consent if your property is accessed by a shared driveway or you live in an apartment or other community administered by a body corporate.

  • Plan – Firstly our local fibre installers will arrange a one hour meeting at your property and discuss the best approach to get the fibre from the boundary to your home. They’ll go over the options with you and get you to sign the agreed installation plan and their End User Terms.
  • Build – Next their crew will come to your place and extend their network from the boundary to the outside wall of your home, based on the agreed installation plan. You don’t need to be home for this. And don’t worry, they’ll ensure your property is reinstated as reasonably close as possible to its original condition.
  • Connect – Finally, they’ll agree with you a four hour time slot when you will need to be home for our technician to complete the fibre connection inside your house.

In some cases, it may take less visits – for example for homes that already have a red fibre duct installed from the boundary to the outside of your home.

INSTALLATION METHODS

Our Local Fibre Companies use a range of installation methods depending on the property. We endeavour to use the method or combination of methods that will have the least impact on your property. We will work with you to agree the methods as part of the installation plan process.

Fence Line

Surface mounting the fibre cable to a suitable surface such as the railing on a fence.

Trenching

Opening a trench in the ground in order to bury the fibre cable and reinstating the surface once the cable is installed.

Narrow Trenching

Creating a very narrow cut (approx. 10mm) in a hard surface (such as concrete) usually following an existing join, installing the fibre cable and reinstating.

Underground Thrusting

Burying the fibre cable under the ground using an underground drilling machine. Noting, that this method is not suitable in some ground conditions.
